Can design touch a community's heart?
Every year, the Children's Magical Garden, a volunteer-run community garden in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, organizes a Winter Solstice event.
We worked with the garden to help them promote the event, and designed posters, postcards and seed pockets in three languages. Typography for these posters was made using leaves collected from the neighbourghood.
Posters were put up in local schools, and postcards were distributed in the neighbourhood. Tear-away postcards attached to the posters had small envelopes of rye seeds on the back, which students could plant and tend to.
